Yesterday was one of those days that quietly changes you.
I was at home in rural New Brunswick, trying to write this very blog. We moved here just four months ago, and I’m still getting to know the area and the people. There was a knock at my back door. A gentleman I didn’t know told me I needed to call 911, as there was a man on the road who needed medical attention.
That man turned out to be my neighbour across the road. I had never met him. He was 74 years old.
Despite everyone’s efforts, he passed away before help could arrive. Standing there and watching a life end so suddenly was an eye-opening moment. It reminded me just how fragile life is, and how easily we can take our health for granted at any age.
I am 73, and moments like this make you pause and reflect.
For many years, I believed that once you reached a certain age, decline was simply “normal.” Slower days. More aches. Less energy. Just part of getting older. But I no longer believe that’s the whole story.
I now believe that how we nourish our bodies matters at every stage of life.
Yesterday was a reminder of something we often push aside: our health is never guaranteed, no matter how strong or independent we feel.
Nutrition isn’t about chasing youth or perfection. It’s about giving your body the tools it needs to function as well as it can today. What we put into our bodies affects our energy, our resilience, our clarity, and how we feel when we wake up each morning.
Yesterday reminded me that tomorrow is never promised.
That’s why I believe it’s never too late - and never too early - to think about nutrition. Not out of fear, but out of respect for the life we are still living.
My goal in sharing this isn’t to alarm anyone. It’s simply to encourage reflection. To ask ourselves a gentle but important question:
Am I supporting my body as best I can, right now?
Why Nutrition Has Become Personal for Me
This experience reinforced why nutrition matters so much to me.
Over time, I’ve noticed positive changes in how I feel since becoming more intentional about what I consume, including adding high-quality oils to support my overall wellness. These changes didn’t happen overnight, and they weren’t the result of miracle cures.
I don’t believe in miracles. I believe in supporting the body, nourishing it properly, and giving it the tools it needs to do its job, especially as we age.
That moment on the road was a reminder that tomorrow isn’t promised, but today is an opportunity to care for ourselves better.
Health isn’t just about adding years to life. It’s about adding life to the years we have.
If you’re curious about small, thoughtful changes that can support your health, I’m always happy to share my experience. In future blogs, I’ll continue sharing what I’ve learned and what has helped me along the way.
A Gentle Reminder for All of Us
You don’t have to be young to start.
You don’t have to be sick to care.
And you don’t have to wait for a wake-up call.
Whether you’re 30, 50, or in your 70s like me, nutrition matters. Your heart matters. Your quality of life matters.
If my story encourages even one person to pause, reflect, and make their health a priority, then sharing it is worth it.
Thank you for being here with me.
